OK, I played football last night, but now my joints ache like hell. And if I care to delude myself even for a moment, I need only glance belly-wards. You're surely still in your forties too, Jimbo (if by the skin of your teeth) - and how's YOUR youthful vigour these days?Philip Ballhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09986655706443117158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26741618.post-21949862485258595652010-09-07T11:49:53.440-07:002010-09-07T11:49:53.440-07:00I thought misery was eating too much tuna, only to...I thought misery was eating too much tuna, only to discover your mercury levels have gone critical.

And what's all this whining about middle-age? You're still in your forties, you little snot.

Education, meanwhile, is a woolly subject to measure, especially in light of the hyper-inflation of recent A-level grades, with every other student getting double-plus-good; yet still needing their mothers to tie up their condoms for them.

I take the cynical view - naturally - that these things like wealth, wisdom, rank, &c, are all dependent on the others 'lowliness'. That it is pure Darwinian cock-a-snooking, at those less well off than oneself, that determines our state of smug self satisfaction.

So even poor sods like me - spare a 20 for a line of coke guv' - will thrive given targets to compromise. Women like rank, and 'being' there, relative to their peers; whilst men enjoy the kudos of 'getting' there, past the other slobs.

The competition and games we play, explain adequately the root of all happiness and misery, outside of chemical and hormonal aberrations, that is.JimmyGirohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01548795180321590463noreply@blogger.com
