This won't be the end of it, so I need the encouragement.

Yes Paul, it's hard to know quite what was going on there, but it's troubling even if (as I think too) the errors were accidental. Well done for spotting the problems.Philip Ballhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09986655706443117158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26741618.post-6130784234706634452007-08-21T08:53:00.000-07:002007-08-21T08:53:00.000-07:00Cheers for the link!Another thing about the figure...Cheers for the link!

Another thing about the figures in the Rao paper is that the top graph in figure 2a is the same as the top graph in figure 1. The curves are the same, even though they are supposed to be representing different things. This seems to be an honest mistake, but it's still pretty poor in a 'peer-reviewed' journal.

Part of the problem is that it just isn't clear what the figures in the paper are supposed to be showing.Paul Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18101626906004768474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26741618.post-45516599292222405942007-08-21T01:58:00.000-07:002007-08-21T01:58:00.000-07:00Dear PhilipYou are not excused, by applauded. My admiration for your bright and clear science writing is now increased for the brave approach to enter a topic where, most likely, beliefs are more important than facts.

Advocates of homeopathy proclaim that its holistic nature avoids double-blind tests from showing its therapeutic effects in full. But they must understand that science cannot lower its standards. When the laws of chemistry and physics are claimed to be broken, we need proofs not philosophy.

Cheer up!MSaxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05327929609727738359noreply@blogger.com
